Meat for the Master's Use
As we continue to celebrate Pentecost Sunday I am reminded of the importance of submission to God's Spirit. We live in a culture that more and more reflects the Hellenistic mindset of ancient Roman/Greek culture. There was no accountability to a standard presented in scripture for a God-fearing people to follow but rather a set of rules that were in place to try to accomplish an agenda of the authorities in place. There was little focus on morality, if it feels good do it as long as it is in the boundary of civil law. The end of that mindset caused great suffering and pain, if not in their lifetime, the consequence of moral decay followed, it would mean in the end total separation from God.
Jesus made a way because of our inability to keep law, specifically Gods Law, that we could be free from the effect of our inability to abide by His standard. Rom 8:1-4 declares,
There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. 3 For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh, 4 that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. NKJV
These verses declare that in Christ Jesus, (you must be born again), not walking by the flesh, (acknowledging that you are a new creature in Christ, a spiritual rebirth), and as that new creature looking unto Christ, (acknowledging Him as your Savoir), walking by the direction He will give, (walking by the Spirit), we can obtain righteous living and we can be in good standing with our heavenly Father. As we attend to this process we can truly be "Meat for the Master's Use. God Bless!
